BMW is the proud designer of the 2014 two-man U.S. Olympic Team bobsled. The bobsled is designed using lightweight carbon fiber—the same intelligent material found in Epoch shafts and electric BMW i vehicles. The Gen 5 Dragonfly utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg with a lower F.A.W. (Fiber Areal Weight) than conventional shafts. These smaller, lighter fibers allow for a tighter orientation of the carbon fiber. More fibers equals increased durability, which is a necessity for both lacrosse shafts and bobsleds.
