Dragonfly Nine Defense/LSM
The Dragonfly Nine Defense/LSM shaft is engineered specifically for those defending their team on the field. Dragonfly Nine features Epoch’s new HD Resin system in all of Epoch’s 60” geometries for increased performance. Each one of the geometries has a Flex iQ engineered by Epoch to elevate a certain style of play. Epoch has looked at all aspects of defense and has designed a shaft for specific defenseman. See below and choose the Flex iQ that fits your game.
iQ3 – New for 2019, the iQ3 Flex is designed for a reason, for close defenders who defend hard, throw precision checks and look to get the ball up the field as quickly as possible. Engineered to be stiffer for when you are in close around the goal and also when you need to throw a quick outlet pass from deep in the corner to get the ball up field.
iQ8 – Specifically designed to be used by the aggressive LSM or offensive minded defender. This Dragonfly shaft is strong enough to defend the goal, and engineered to bring the ball across midfield for players looking for the assist or shot on goal. The iQ8 is a softer flex giving you more flex when shooting which will translate to more power for the 60” Dragonfly.
iQ5 C60xl – Engineered for the close defenders who play outstanding defense but need extra mass for checks and when using their shaft to drive the opposing team away from the net.
C60 – Traditional Concave Geometry. Most popular.
E60 – Ergonomic Geometry. Ultimate Control.
X60 – Xtreme Concave Geometry. Exceptional Feel.

More than a name, Dragonfly Nine is part of a legacy.
The Dragonfly Nine is the most technologically advanced shaft in the game, built on years of design, innovation, and engineering. This year Epoch has truly challenged their own legacy, taking the legendry Dragonfly name to new heights. Introducing their new HD Resin Technology and adding flex iQ options for 2019; engineered to change and redefine your game. Be part of Epoch history and step on the field with a Dragonfly Nine. The carbon fiber revolution is happening, and Epoch is leading the way.
HD Resin: Increased Performance
Epoch’s engineers have been working with their US based material suppliers for over 2 years on the latest resin technology specifically for their Dragonfly family of shafts. The main target was to optimize mechanical strength properties especially in impact resistance. To accomplish this, Epoch worked with their engineers to make sure the new resin system showed improvement and also worked within their proprietary manufacturing process to produce even better shafts with improved durability. HD Resin improves the overall shaft but also adds direct benefits to each of Epoch’s Technologies, giving you, the player, a better shaft and increased performance for your game.
Torque Box 2
Intelligent Weave™ allows for a more uniform construction as the carbon filaments in each tow (row) are spread out creating a thinner and more closed woven fabric providing reduced weight, optimal mechanicals and minimal voids in the composite layup. By reducing “Crimp” (when carbon fiber runs in a uniform direction(s) that is not structurally beneficial) we can decrease weight by reducing non-essential material while maintaining the structural integrity required by lacrosse.
The Dragonfly Eight Dragonfly utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg with a lower F.A.W. (Fiber Areal Weight) than conventional shafts. These smaller, lighter fibers allow for a tighter orientation of the carbon fiber. More fibers equals increased durability.
Highly engineered “gritty” textured topcoat, which allows for consistent grip to be maintained in all weather, while also allowing the shaft to move freely through your hands
“Kick” Up Your Game.
The Dragonfly’s Uniform Release point is designed to maximize shaft performance by creating a natural kick-point or flex point just above your top hand, when shooting and passing.
We achieve flex by manipulating the orientation of the carbon fiber. Our shaft’s bend when you need it to, but retains its firmness for maximum control. Conventional shafts that tout flex often use fiberglass, a cheaper, less durable material, to increase the bendability. Don’t sacrifice your game, choose Epoch.
When passing or shooting, a load is introduced to the shaft causing it to flex back, which causes the carbon fibers to be stretched along the front of the shaft and compressed along the back. Reload Technology takes advantage of this situation by using low F.A.W. (Fiber Areal Weight) and high-modulus carbon fiber, which creates urgency for the fibers to return to their natural position for maximum recoil
The carbon fiber pre-preg used in Epoch shafts undergoes a chemical surface treatment process to improve the mechanical “locking” (compatibility) between the fibers and the matrix resin. The result is better laminate properties of the carbon fiber. An improved laminate results in better load transfer (energy) for increased durability.
Our Advanced Carbon Layering (A.C.L.) is what separates Epoch shafts from conventional composite shafts. By layering low F.A.W., uni-directional carbon fiber pre-preg in a specific manner we can control several aspects of the shaft’s performance, including flex, durability, weight and release point.
